Our favourite web video of the week is of course the new John Lewis advert Buster the Boxer. The advert, which has come to be recognised as signalling the start of the festive season, features five-year-old boxer dog called Buster, enviously watching the neighbourhood’s wildlife (looking like something out of animals of farthing wood!) leap around on the family’s brand new trampoline on Christmas Eve.

Director Dougal Wilson returns once again to work his magic on John Lewis’ eagerly anticipated Christmas ad with adam&eveDDB. Teaming up with MPC to create his cast of bouncing CGI animals, Dougal takes a refreshingly humorous and light-hearted approach to this year’s festive spot.

The advert was shot entirely on a set at Black Island Studios (but made to look like a typical London townhouse), cost around £1m to make and features bouncing CGI foxes, badgers, squirrels and hedgehogs.

With over 7 million view on YouTube already, John Lewis is spending £6m on TV slots, including its debut screening yesterday at 9.15pm and recreating a virtual reality version in its flagship Oxford Street store.

Anyway we think it’s brilliant and has everything we have come to expect of the now hotly-anticipated generator of the festive feeling. Check it out below!
