Our favourite web video for this week is Table Manners by director Rebecca Manley. We think it’s a great short film, stylistically it has a simple and innocent look but with a slightly sinister and hilarious undertone. Using a combination of beautifully textured cardboard characters and cracking sound design, Rebecca has created a unique and individual world for this dark comic short. The film was produced (on a pretty low budget) by Indy8 in association with Lupus Films for Channel 4.
In a nutshell (nuts play an important part in the story!) the short film is about three creatures who go in search of food in the woods but find that there’s no no such thing as a free lunch. Anyway check it out, in our opinion it’s well worth a watch – our favourite bit is when the bear starts hallucinating and seeing the pig as a pork chop!
